Adeline Anderson Morton

October 31, 1925 - January 7, 2010

Adeline Anderson Morton, 84, formerly of 505 Mamie Eisenhower in Boone passed away at the Hearth Stone Memory Care Unit at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone on Sunday morning, January 3, 2001. She had been a resident at the Home since January of 2007. She was born on October 31, 1925, in Boone the daughter of Roy and Vera (Bell) Nelson. On May 14, 1949, she married Charles Kenneth Anderson at Boone. He passed away in June of 1986. On July 11, 1992, she married John W. Morton at Boone. Adeline graduated from Boone High School. She worked in the Boone Senior High School Principal’s Office for over 15 years, and later was employed as secretary to the Train Master for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for over 15 years before retiring. She lived in Boone all of her life. Adeline greeted everyone with a welcome cheerful smile and was admired by all who met her. She was an active member of the Augustana Lutheran Church, leading Bible Studies for her Circle and was involved with making quilts to send overseas. Her parents; husbands Kenneth in June of 1986 and John in May of 1995; and 1 brother Harold preceded her in death. Survivors include 2 daughters; Penelope “Penny” Bell Anderson Miller and Pat “Patsy” Anderson; grandchildren Stephanie Aurora Miller Lewis and husband Roy, Jonathan “Jon” Sherman Miller and wife Cherina Kesuma, and Olivialin “Olivia” Andrea Miller; great-grandchildren Carter Theodore Lewis and Hudson Garrett Lewis; step-children John Morton, Jr. and wife Mary of Edina, Minnesota, Ann Woods of Boone, and Suellen Morton Elsberry and husband Dayle of Boone; a sister-in-law Barbara Nelson of Dallas, Texas; nieces; nephews; and her extended family at the Hearth Stone Memory Care Unit. Services will be held on Thursday morning, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone with Pastor Dick Dahle officiating. Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Friends may call at the Church on Thursday morning prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
