Barbara Jensen Moorman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara Jensen Moorman, age 85 of Boone, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa. Barbs wishes were to be cremated. A private family graveside service will be held at Squire-Boone Cemetery, southeast of Boone at a later date. Barbara was born on February 28, 1927 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Irwin and Gudrun (Stevenson) Axness. Barbara graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1945. She then attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota where she met and married Chester Jensen on December 19, 1946. In 1966 they moved to Boone. Barbara was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church of Boone. Barbara was a homemaker and did volunteer work at the Boone County Hospital. She enjoyed the Monday Club, playing bridge, playing golf and sewing. Barbara married Vernon A. Moorman in Boone, Iowa. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Eugene and her first husband Chester. Barbara is survived by her husband Vernon A. Moorman of Boone; daughter, Joycelyn Ann Beaver (Robert) of Spencer, Iowa; daughter, Gretchen Ann Burnett (Daniel) of Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren, Joseph Thomas, Kathryn Burnett and Molly Schulte (Mike); brother, John Spencer Axness of Minneapolis, Minnesota; seven step-children, Bruce Moorman (Jo) of Boone, Iowa; Ronna O'Brien (Mike) of Boone, Iowa; Lynn Sundall (Mike) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Valerie Williams (Danny) of West Plains, Missouri; Mark Moorman (Mary) of Estherville, Iowa; Todd Moorman (Kris) of Boone, Iowa; Scott Moorman (Susan) of Mason City, Iowa; 24 step-grandchildren; 33 step-great grandchildren and one step-great great grandchild.
