Eden Mariah Montang AKA “Papoose”, “Squirt”, “Little Girl” February 07, 2000 - June 2, 2022 Eden Mariah Montang, age 22, joined our Father in Heaven on June 2, 2022, in Ames, Iowa. Eden was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on February 07, 2000, to Terry and Mia Montang. Eden was welcomed by her two older siblings Ethan and Elyse. She was unique and gifted in her ability to be both strong and tender, creative and conservative and was unmatched in her generosity and empathy. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and dedicated Christian woman. Eden was unrelenting in her values and strong sense of right and wrong. She was intellectually gifted, articulate, and confident. Eden traveled the world starting at the age of 6 visiting Taiwan, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland and many more as she loved seeing the world God created. Due to her father being activated in the Army, Eden was able to make lifelong relationships with so many people. She graduated from Boone High School in 2018 and then she moved to New Mexico to attend Massage Therapy Schooling. Upon receiving her certification and returning home she joined the US Army in order to assist with the costs for college classes. She went to Boot Camp at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and then AIT at Fort Lee, Virginia. Eden made the rank of Specialist and served our country for roughly 3 years. After excelling at basic training, she came home and enrolled at Iowa State University. While being a full-time student, she also worked part time at Massage Heights as a therapist and part time for Blessed Hands Cleaning. Some of her many hobbies consisted of reading and writing. Her ability to use words to touch and challenge people was something she described as a gift from God. Her love for her family was something that very few understood. Eden loved to spend time in the sun while being in the water. Her parents used to say that Ethan, Elyse, and Eden had gills to help describe how much they loved being near and in the water. Going for walks, spending time outside, camping, running her four-legged fur baby, Takoda, were some of her favorite things to do in her spare time. Since a very young age, Eden was able to use Sign Language to communicate. This also followed her into her adult years as she used her knowledge for Sign Language by being a teacher’s assistant at Iowa State University. Eden’s diverse music choices ranged from classical to rock & roll, country, and Christian contemporary. Wherever Eden went, music most likely followed her. Anyone who knew Eden knew that she had a fire for the Lord. Many describe it as a thirst that she could not quench. Eden loved her Church so much that she ended up being baptized at Cornerstone in Ames with her fellow brothers and sisters in her connection group. Her desire for knowledge was fueled by her time in the word, podcasts, bible studies, connection groups, retreats, fellowship, and Thursday evenings SALT Company. One her many favorite scripture verses were Matthew 7:13-14 “God never said it would be easy. He promised it would be worth it!”. Even through the tough times, Eden was decisive about starting and ending each day with Jesus. Eden Mariah is survived by her beloved parents Terry and Mia, older siblings Ethan and Elyse, nephew Thaddeus, adored canine Takoda, many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and all her brothers and sisters through Christ. Eden was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents Eugene & Minnie Montang and Dean & Marilyn Ballard, her uncles Ray & Richard, and dearest cousins Larry & Norman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Cornerstone Church, 56829 US Highway 30, Ames, Iowa 50010 with Rev. Mark Vance and Rev. Sol Rexius officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Cornerstone Church prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to Cornerstone Church in Ames.
