Edward Morello

May 23, 1935 - April 29, 2013

Edward Bonhotal Morello, 77, of Ogden, Iowa and formerly of Iowa City, died at the Ogden Manor on Monday evening, April 22, 2013. Edward was born May 23, 1935 in Boone, Iowa, the son of Lester and Ruth (Hunter) Morello. Edward worked for Quinn Iron Works in Boone for a number of years in the 1960’s before moving to Iowa City in 1968 to work for United Technologies (formerly Sheller-Globe) where he became the Director of Engineering for many years and retired in June 1997. After more than 10 years of retirement near Iowa City, in 2003 he moved to Ogden, Iowa. Edward was an avid fisherman on the rivers and lakes of Iowa and Canada. He used to always say, “Fishing may not add years to my life, but it adds life to my years.” His parents, Lester and Ruth Morello; brother Robert Morello, sister Doris Jones, and two great-grandsons Tristan Sutton and Alec Meadows preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving three daughters and son; Dawn Meadows and husband Les of Ames, Iowa, Cindy McNeil of Mesa, Arizona, Beth Sutton of Gold Canyon, Arizona, and Steve Morello and wife Mireille of Seattle, Washington; six grandchildren, James Meadows of Ames, Iowa, Sarah McNeil and Amy McNeil both of Mesa, Arizona, Jeffrey Sutton and Christopher Sutton both of Peoria, Arizona and Joseph Sutton of Mesa, Arizona, Caroline Morello and Maéva Morello both of Villeurbanne, France; three great-grandchildren Victoria Sutton and Jazmine Sutton both of Peoria, Arizona and Joel Meadows of Ames; his sister and brother-in-law Irene and Gene Crouch of Ogden; and numerous extended family. Edward will be missed by his dearest friend, Marilyn Duncan of Boone. Edward’s wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services with interment will be celebrated on Monday afternoon, April 29th at 2:00 p.m. in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. Following the memorial service, a time of fellowship will be shared at the Colorado Grill in Boone. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Sunday evening April 28th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 pm. with the family present during that time to greet friends.
