Lenore Hora

Lenore Hora, 88, formerly of 1217 - 2nd Street in Boone, Iowa passed away at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone on Sunday morning, May 27, 2007. She had been a resident at the Home since June of 2000. She was born on January 5, 1919, in Ogden, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Marie (Jipp) Kruse. On October 20, 1938, she married Richard L. Hora at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Lenore was a graduate of Boone High School and Boone Junior College. She was the bookkeeper for her father’s clothing store, H.H. Kruse Clothing Co., for over 40 years. To stay active, Lenore worked at the Evangelical Free Church Home in the housekeeping department and later volunteered her time at the Home helping in the activity center. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, where she sang in the Church choir for over 50 years and acted as the choir treasurer from 1966 to 1982. Scouting was important to her as well, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years and was active in Girl Scouts and Blue Birds. Lenore enjoyed music and being with her family. Her parents, husband Richard in February of 1979, 1 brother John Charles Kruse, and 2 sisters Mary Jean Kruse and Norma Louise Martin preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter Diane Ely and her husband Duane of Boone, Iowa, 1 son R. Dennis Hora and his wife Marilyn of Faribault, Minnesota, 6 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday morning, May 30th at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone with Pastor Lindsay Watkins officiating. Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning at the Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. The family will be present at the Stark-Welin Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone, Iowa.
