Lyndon "Lyn" Slight

April 26, 1941 - October 16, 2006

Lyndon “Lyn” Slight, 65, of 927 Aldrich Avenue, Boone, Iowa passed away at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday morning, October 12, 2006. He was born on April 26, 1941 in Camby, Minnesota the son of John and Freda (Bremer) Slight. On April 8, 1967, he married Susan Butler at Omaha, Nebraska. Lyn was a 1959 graduate of Bagley High School in Bagley, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and in 1967 became a member of the Boone Police Department until 2000, when he retired with the rank of Captain. He was currently employed at S&H Motor Company. Lyn enjoyed woodworking and making stained glass projects, was an avid reader and loved to be with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church and various police associations. His parents and an infant sister preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Susan, of Boone, Iowa, 2 sons, Michael (Brenda) Slight of Boone, Iowa, John Slight of Boone, Iowa; 1 daughter Tamra Frazier of Boone, Iowa; 7 grandchildren Maddy Slight, Makenna Slight, Joe Slight, Brett Slight, Emma Slight and Dianna Slight all of Boone, Iowa, Mollie Frazier of Boone, Iowa; 2 sisters Myrna Koopman of Omaha, Nebraska and Marty Dawson of Mae City, Iowa; 1 brother Jack Slight of Rippey, Iowa; 2 sisters-in-laws Barbara Butler and Joanne Butler both of Boone, Iowa; nieces and nephews. The body has been cremated. Memorial services will be held Monday afternoon, October 16th at 1:30 P.M. at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone with Rev. Daniel W. Solomon officiating. Interment with full military honors conducted by the Veterans Council of Boone will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery north of Madrid, Iowa. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and at the Augustana Lutheran Church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
