Michael McCambridge March 4, 1950 - February 11, 2022 Michael Loran McCambridge, 71, joined his Heavenly Father on February 11, 2022 at HonorHealth Thompson Peak Medical Center in Scottsdale, AZ while on vacation with his wife, Vicki, and surrounded by his family. Mike was born March 4, 1950, in Boone, IA to Loran and Pearl McCambridge. He graduated from Boone High School in 1968 and graduated from Iowa State University with a business degree in 1976. Mike married Vicki Ann (Dennert) McCambridge on August 11, 1973 in Boone, where they raised their three sons. Mike held several positions in retail and sales before owning Boone Travel Agency for 20 years. His last and most enjoyable occupation was at Redekers Furniture in Boone for 15 years until his retirement in 2016. Mike was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Free Church in Boone where he served in various capacities including usher, trustee, Sunday School and Children’s Church teacher, AWANA volunteer, men’s ministry member as well as maintenance and grounds care. Mike was a member of Rotary, a Paul Harris Fellow, a Chamber Ambassador and coached Little League. Following his retirement, Mike worked as a valet at Boone County Hospital and as a men’s and women’s basketball usher for his alma mater and favorite team, the Iowa State Cyclones. He had many interests and hobbies including traveling, water skiing at Clear Lake, bicycling, hiking, and working in his yard. Mike enjoyed fixing things around their home and was very proud of his recently completed back yard deck. He enjoyed helping neighbors and friends whenever he could. Daily Bible reading was very important to Mike, and he was in the process of reading his Bible through once more this year. He was immensely proud of his family and cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, which he did as often as he could. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter, Erin Marie, his brother James McCambridge, his sister Nancy Anderson and his father and mother-in-law Walter and Mary Ellen Dennert. Mike is survived by his wife, Vicki; his sons Dr. Chad (Jennifer) McCambridge of Mason City, IA, Jeffrey McCambridge (Shawna Foley) of Columbus, OH, and Scott (Kayla) McCambridge of Ames, IA; his grandchildren Caleb, Collin, Phinneas, Rowan, Brooks, and Mia; and his sisters Glenda (Mike) Campbell of Ames, IA and Kathy (Jim) Lee of Berkeley, CA and several nieces and nephews. Memorials in memory of Mike may be directed to the First Evangelical Free Church of Boone, the Ronald McDonald House or the American Heart Association. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the First Evangelical Free Church in Boone with Pastor Tom Mason officiating. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, in Boone. Burial will take place at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone at a later date.
