Vivian Kennedy

Vivian Arlene Kennedy, daughter of George Knight and Lillian Sorenson Knight, was born May 16, 1924 in Boone, IA. Vivian died September 15, 2017 at the Boone County Hospital with her family by her side at the age of 93 years. Vivian grew up in Boone, Iowa and graduated from Boone High School in 1942. On December 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to James Kennedy. They were the proud parents of two children: Rachelle and Sandra. They made their home in Boone, Iowa where Vivian worked for Northwest Bell and later AT&T as a Telephone Operator. After 38 years as a telephone operator, Vivian retired. Vivian and James have lived in the same home in Boone, Iowa for 59 years. Vivian loved music, whether she was attending a concert in the park listening to the Boone Municipal Band, listening to her favorite CD’s, or dancing to some of her favorite music. She also enjoyed flowers and quilting. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the First United Methodist Church in Boone. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Sandra Kay Nunn, J.D.; and 7 siblings. She is survived by her husband James Kennedy of Boone, IA; her daughter, Dr. Rachelle (Nasser) Darabi of Saddlebrooke, MO; sister Patty Bushore of Boone, IA; son-in-law, Ron Nunn of Lawton, OK; three grandchildren: Andrea (Bart) Hadley of Lawton, OK, Parvonay (Jordan, J.D.) Stover of Indianapolis, IN, and Jimmy Darabi of Portland, OR; one great-granddaughter: Karley Quisenberry; her nephew who cared for them, Brian Bushore of Boone, IA; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, with Rev. Doug Cue officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Moingona, Iowa. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street. Memorials are suggested to the Boone Municipal Band.
